Westar Farms is a training centre emphasizing a strong foundation of skills for all levels of riding.

Jeff McKessock

regionals 2015 Chlo, Mar, JeffIn charge of the barn and the training, Jeff is a certified NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) Level 3 competition coach with students competing in jumper, equitation, hunter and dressage

With his base of education ranging from an early start in western rodeo games and steer riding to being long-listed for the 1984 3-Day Eventing Team, Jeff is able to use training techniques from all disciplines to produce well-rounded equestrian athletes.

 Bridget McKessock

Bridget-about-1Bridget is a certified NCCP Level 2 competition coach though most of her time is spent performing the administrative duties of the farm as well as planning and managing the many events hosted at Westar. These include the two Silver and three Bronze summer horse shows. She still loves to ride, teach and coach in the Westar program. With experience in event management and business operations, as well as a Master’s degree in physiological psychology, Bridget has a broad base of knowledge of the industry.




Karen Steadman (right) and Shawna Carlton manage the barn and are in charge of horse care at Westar. Karen has been with us for more than for 25 years. Shawna also has extensive knowledge and experience with horses. Thier experience and knowledge are extensive and sense of horse well-being is highly-tuned. Not only do the horses love them, but the riders are deeply respectful of their dedication and expertise. 




Stephanie Wark is an NCCP trained and certified instructor who has a passion for developing young riders into accomplished equestrians. Having grown up with us here at Westar, Stephanie’s riding skills have been developed over the years with Jeff. With extensive show experience in the hunter and jumper rings, Stephanie is a keen competitor. A true horsewoman, she has a love for training and developing young horses having also trained her own horse Prius from the ground up.



Brian Fisher manages the grounds and keeps everything in good repair.
